A Sweat Affair
On A Mission to Create the Best Hot Weather Golf Polo
by James Elledge
Helter skelter, summer swelter. Some play G, others seek shelter. We know you. You’re one of us. It doesn’t matter if it’s 44 or 104 degrees outside – you’re going to get on the golf course. And you’re bound to have a good time. You think the heat is tolerable, or at least distractible. After all, few things in life can take one’s mind off the suffocating southern heat like a striped 300-yard drive and a swig of a stout John Daly.
But have you had issues with your polo? You know, the one that was marketed to you as “lightweight and breathable” but in reality breathes like a decimal-point-ply “Hefty” trash bag. We feel your pain. We’ve sweated through those shirts while mentally sweating 3-foot putts after a last minute hammer. In fact, that’s why we started the Juniper & James golf brand.
Not to preach to the choir, but it’s near impossible to find a performance golf polo that actually performs in oppressive heat. Even the leading brands often use inferior fabrics like that run-of-the-mill polyester and spandex blend. They feel either cheap soap artificially smooth or pork rind scratchy on your skin. And the crazy thing is that same polo costs $150. Can’t someone create a high performance hot weather polo for us golfers in the South? Ideally one that combines on course comfort with off course style without breaking the bank? Enter Juniper & James: your golf apparel savior.
